ADS4226EVM issue

Hi,

The sampling clock to ADS42xxEVM is usually provided by external signal generator for the flexibility of sampling frequency, and the circuitry of input clock is shown as below. ADS42xxEVM GUI is based on configuring only ADS42xx device itself. It'll be best if you can use signal generator for sampling clock, then you don't have to mount VCXO onboard.

In my lab,the signal generator can only output the maximum frequency is 20Mhz. However, I want to increase the

sampling clock to 150Mhz, so I figured out another method to solve the problem.  The way is making a simple signal

generator(CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR).

furthermore, I have the ADS42xx_58C28 GUI installed, then, virtual serial port has created succussfully in the HARD DEVICE MANAGER.

run the ADS42xx_58C28 GUI software, the USB status is not litting? maybe I miss any step should to  be performed?

Have you checked the driver update from device manager? The GUI screen should be green after hitting "Reset USB" tab multiple times as attached.

Yes, I have. The VCP device is "USB Serial Port(COM6)" to be distributed in the device manager and it works well.

The step below:

1. installation --->\...\sbac113b\setup.exe.

2.run \...\Texas Instruments ADCs\ADS42xx_58C28 GUI\CDM20814_Setup.exe.

3.connect the USB cable to ADS4226EVM Board's J17

4.Window 7 64-bit system install the driver for the USB chip automatically.

5.open "ADS42xx/58C28 GUI v2.1" software, the USB Status can not be lit to green, then press the Reset USB button, the status is same as before.

 

What's wrong with my step? maybe some support packages should be installed before? the Data Capture Board is TSW1200EVM, I guess its driver will conflict with ADS4226EVM's driver? I have no idea...

I  am very anxious to get your help.

When you connect usb cable to ADS4226EVM, you'll see "USB Serial Converter" from Universal Serial Bus Controlers as below. When did you order this EVM?

Which are the number of JUMPER should be shorted or open on the EVM when they communicate with? I have the JUMPER done as below.

JP15  Short 1-2   DC supply

JP16  Short 1-2   DC supply

JP17  Short 2-3   DC suppy,LDO

JP19  Short 2-3   DC supply,LDO

JP28  Short 2-3   DC supply,LDO

JP29  Short 2-3   DC supply,LDO

JP8    Short 3-2     ADC SCLK for SPI

JP9    Short 3-2     ADC SDATA for SPI

JP10  Short 3-2     ADC SEN for SPI

JP11  Short 3-2     ADC for SPI, also reset

JP12  Short 1-2     ADC low-speed mode disable

 

input CLK frequency is 125Mhz.

I have tried as you described in detail, but the problem is still as before. what's the problem with the EVM? Could you tell me all the steps should be set for the EVM communicate with PC?

Hi,

Your problem is "USB Status" is not lit up with Green? If this is true, you have a communication problem with your PC. If ADS42xxEVM is an old stock, there is a possibility of enumeration issue of this EVM, which means GUI cannot recognize this EVM due to wrong ID.

Please download attached and unzip to your directory, and follow the slide to see if it works.

I am also having the same problem as in this thread. ADS42xx_52c28 GUI is not recognizing the device. I do not see USB Status light lit.

I followed the same instructions as in this thread and programmed the board with ADS4249EVM.

It still does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the information.

It is working now.

I can see sclk.

But I am not able to set the ADC to output test pattern.

Even though I set all ones pattern using GUI, It still has lower four bits changing their state continuously. All other bits are zeros.

Can you tell me what could be the problem.

I have made a mistake. I have ADS42B49 EVM board. I had installed ADS42xx_58C28 GUI which is not the correct one for" ADS42B49" device.

I had changed FTDI eprom to ADS4249EVM and the gui was working. I can not use that GUI as digital enable is mapped to 0x42 register address instead of 0x44.

Now I installed the correct GUI ADS42BXX. But I forgot the original FTDI Product description and serial number. Can you send me the correct product description and serial number that will make the GUI recognize the device and start working.
