DAC3282EVM and TSW1400

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3282EVM, DAC3282, TRF372017, CDCE62005

Hello,

I am trying to interface DAC3282EVM with TSW1400. I can download the firmware on to the board and can generate patterns and send them too. Unfortunately I am not able to see them on the oscilloscope. I am using default DAC settings and data rate as 307.2MSPS with a single tone at 20MHz.

So could you tell me if I am making some mistake here?

Thank You

  • Hi Nikhil,

The DAC3282 EVM default output is the TRF372017 modulator output. You may not be able to see the RF waveform directly on the scope.

Please modify the EVM to the DAC output with transformer coupled. The transformer coupled is expecting 50ohm load from your scope. See EVM user's guide section four for detail:

  • Hi Kang,

I have gone through the DAC3282EVM user guide and I understand that I have to move jumpers R153, R137, R156, R155 to location R136,R135, R134, R109. But before going on with desoldering the current connection to Modulator and solder them to Transformer I checked if there is any output at the pins of DAC itself. But I dont see to get any signal there.

So should I still go ahead and change the connections?

    Thank You

    Nikhil

  • Hi Nikhil,

I have just tried the modification to use the transformer and it works well on my EVM.

So I would suggest that you change these 0ohm resistors first and check the result on a spectrum analyzer.

If you still don't have anything, make sure to have the DAC3282 GUI correctly configured, don't forget the initialize button and to check that the CDCE62005 LED (D4) is illuminated.

    Hope it helps,

    Best,

    Quentin
