ADS7263 driving amplifier bandwidth

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8363, ADS7263, ADS7223, ADS7863

Hi  engineers:

In ADS7263 datasheet page 17:With tACQ = 100ns, the minimum bandwidth of the driving amplifier is 19MHz for the ADS8363, 17MHz for the ADS7263, and 15MHz for the ADS7223.

    1.  If  the bandwidth is lower than 19MHz for the ADS8363, or lower than17MHz for the ADS7263,  what they will?

    2.  Are all ADCs have similar the rule?

  • Hi Johnsin,

The ADS7863 datasheet, page 17 suggested amplifier minimum bandwidth numbers are going on the assumption that you are running the device at full speed.  The suggested drive should provide ample margin to ensure that the sample and hold capacitor is charged to the final value during tACQ.  A lower bandwidth amplifier may not allow the circuit to setting in time.  This is typical with most successive approximation register converters that do not include a buffer on the analog input stage internal to the device.
