TVP5154 issues

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5154A

hi

i am using the TVP5154A to input 720x480 NTSC input video

i see a strange thing. when i have no video input, i still get "black" video output (digital side) from the decoder.

no data, but still i get EAV/SAV. can i change that?

i also have a problem, losing lock - that means that sometimes i get '1' in register 88h, in the lost lock bit.

is that normal? my input is stable.. is that a known issue?

  • Outputting blank video with no signal is normally required by most back end processor which typically require a constant stream of data regardless of video state.

You can try experimenting with register 0x15 F/V bit control which changes the behavior in tracking the vertical sync to the output data.

You should not see the lost lock bit transition if there truly has not been a loss in lock.

Check that your source input is correctly terminated, that the coupling capacitor is correct and that all power supplies are good, clean and stable.

    BR,

    Steve
