LM97593 synchronization

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM97593

we are using  LM97593 for   RF sensor application. in this regard there are  2  seperate units each having LM97593.

These two units  having seperate gps  receiver that provides reference  time &clock . To achieve the synchronization between 2 units DDC'S we are deriving SI bar  with reference to GPStime. BUt GPS  tme offset between two units is 50ns.

the problem here is while collecting the data from 2 units it is giving different delays each time, though input signal source( signal generator) is common to both units. here my doubt is which causes the output of 2 units   phase variation and delay. some times both outputs are out of phase ,some times aligning and some times  below 90 degrees.

  • Padma Yarraguntla,

Can you please give me some more details on all the possible phase differences? You mention 'out of phase', 'in phase' and 'below 90 degrees'. Can you relate this back to the sampling clock and tell me if the phase differences are in steps of the sampling clock period, or is the phase difference a fraction of the sampling clock period?

When you say that 'collecting the data from 2 units it is giving different delays each time', what does 'Each time' mean? What happens between each sampling of data? Do any configurations get changed?

Some other thing to think about:

    - Does the SI(bar) signal meet setup/hold at both devices?

    -  Is the minimum pulse width (4 CK cycles) met?

    - Is the routing of the SI signal to both devices delay matched?
