how to find open and short circuit conditions in lmp90100

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP90100

Hello,

I am using lmp90100 AFC. In this data sheet they mentioned detection of open and short circuit is there.

But the procedure they didn't mentioned.

So please can anybody tell me, how to how to find out open and short circuit in lmp90100

Thanks in Advance

  • Hello Vijay,

Ref to datasheet Pg.34 and 35 of LMP90100 which explains open and short circuit detection using the Rails flag and short thershold flag.

  • Hello Murali,

        Thanks for reply.

I didn't find anything about those flags in Pg.34 and 35 of lmp90100 datasheet.

    Can you explain me clearly.

    Regards,

    Vijay Kumar

  • Hi Vijay,

Open Condition: In a open condition, since there is no return path for the sensor diagnostics current, it will  charge the capacitor present on the line/pin cap. This will make the voltage at the input to Rail which results in triggering the rails flag.

Short condition: If there is a short to GND or VA then this will again result in rails flag being set. If the two terminals of the sensor are shorted then depending on the sensor diagnostics  threshold register, short thld flags will be set.

    Regards,
    Murali

  • Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay from my side.

Yeah, What you said I got it. In the datasheet diagram for thermocouple 2 capacitors are there 2.2uf and 10nf which one is required.

    Please Tell me

    Best Regards
