ADS8861 Conversion Time

The datasheet for the ADS8861 specs a min conversion time of 500nS, and a max conversion time of 710ns.  In 3-wire mode, the conversion time is driven by the CONVST line, with no status from the A/D.  Does this always have to be at least 710ns long, or can it be shorter?  What parameters affect this timing?

    Hi Andrew,

    Regardless of the interface mode, data conversion on this device is controlled by an internal clock (separate from SCLK). The frequency of the internal conversion clock can vary from part to part and over temperature. Consequently, there can be variations in conversion time as well. However, we guarantee that the conversion time on any unit will not exceed 710ns under operating conditions specified in the datasheet.
