ADC&DAC for ML506 FPGA

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum.Please consider my sincere apologies,if this topic was already discussed.

We have an experimental setup,where we need to interface a Xilinx ML506 FPGA with ADC/DAC devices.We have gone through Xilinx website,but we couldn't find any compatible DAC/ADC devices, as the list is applicable only for latest Virtex series.

Then we contacted to TI,received a set of ADC/DAC devices list(thanks for their kind reply).

We've decided to go with the following DACs.

DAC3482EVM and DAC5681Z EVM.

We were wondering would there be any problem in interfacing(LVDS) these devices with ML506 board ?

Note:-Ml506 FPGA does have a XGI expansion header with 32 single-ended I/O,16 LVDS-capable differential pairs and IIC bus expansion.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Dinesh,

The ML506 FPGA platform does not have compatible LVDS connectors for the DAC or ADC EVMs. We use a HSMC connector with either 2 segment for the ADC or 3 segment for the DAC.

We had made an adapter for the ML605 (Virtex 6) which would break out the FMC ports to compatible HSMC connectors for the LVDS ADC and DAC EVMs:

For the ADC and DAC evms to work with the ML506, you may need to develop special adapters for the interface.
