DAC5578 output noise problemC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC5578

Customer found there is noise at output of DAC5578, it is sine signal, the frequency is around 160kHz,  there is description about clock feedthrough in D/S, does this noise is due to clock feedthrough?

  • Longchang,

Could you share an oscilloscope capture of this noise along with a schematic for this design? Is the DAC driving a capacitive load? What does the output oscillation look like at different DAC codes?

Typically digital feed-through does not create a sinusoidal waveform on the output. The digital feed-through phenomenon is just caused by capacitive coupling on the device level of the high frequency edges of the digital input patterns. Usually this creates sort of "impulse" functions on the output, not a sinusoid. Is the noise observed while they are communicating with the device? Is there a continuous clock being fed to the device?

Intuitively I anticipate that this noise is coming from some other source - either on the board level or in the environment for the test itself.
