Re: TLV5620

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV5620

To whom it may concern.

We will use this product in our new product to control the gain of an OP.

I would like to ask if the value of the resistance value for one step  or

the total resistance value.

This information is needed in order to control very precise a motor current

Albert Tello

  • Hi Albert,

The TLV5620, does not behave as a programmable resistor. I don't think you will be able to use it as such.

If you can answer a few questions for me, I think that I can help you figure out a good alternative to this.

How are you controlling this motor?

What is the input voltage or current range that controls the motor?

How many discrete steps do you require in order to control this motor?

Would you be willing to use two 4-Ch devices?

  • Hi Eugenio

Thank you for your response. We are already using this part to control an OP gain , for our application .

Sorry I can not provide more details in our application due a patent issues.

    In the manual mention:

The TLV5620 is implemented using four resistor-string DACs. The core of each DAC is a single resistor with
256 taps, corresponding to the 256 possible codes listed in Table 1. One end of each resistor string is connected
to GND and the other end is fed from the output of the reference input buffer. Monotonicity is maintained by use
of the resistor strings. Linearity depends upon the matching of the resistor segments and upon the performance
of the output buffer. Since the inputs are buffered, the DACs always presents a high-impedance load to the
    reference source

Due to our DSP needs to pre-calculate the OP gain, according to mtion parameters, I just will be very useful to know aprox the resistor string.
