ADS7884 Serial Interface

Anyone have any information on the serial interface to this A/D converter?   I'm finding the data sheet very confusing and questionable.  Is there an application note somewhere?

Also, is there a VHDL model available that emulates this device so that I can test my interface?

    I am not aware of any VHDL model but let me consult with the development team to see if we have anything available.

    I think I must have been confused by the fact that the text for the ADS7885 appears directly under the ADS7884 timing diagram.  I must have been reading the wrong section and the description didn't seem to match up with the diagram.  Also, I thought it looked a little peculiar that the first zero was referenced to the chip select while the remaining bits were referenced to SCLK.  I think I understand it now, although a VHDL model of the 7884 would still be helpful for verification.
