Power sequencing of DAC8234

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8234

Hi,

The data sheet of DAC8234 recommends the following power supply sequencing:

POWER-SUPPLYSEQUENCING
In order to ensure proper initialization of the DAC8234,the digital supplies (DVDDand IOVDD)and logic inputs
(UNI/BIP-x) must be applied before AVSS and AVDD. Additionally, AVSS must be applied before AVDD unless both
can ramp up at the same time. REF-x should be applied after AVDD comes up in order to make sure the ESD
protection circuitry does not turn on.

Is it absolutely necessary to follow the above mentioned power up sequencing for the proper operation or does it still work if all the power domains are applied simultaneously?

Thanks in advance

It is absolutely necessary to follow the power-up sequencing. The analog supplies can ramp all at the same time, but the digital supplies MUST power on before the digital supplies. If you want top power on your device as fast a possible, make sure that the digital supplies have ramped to at least 2 V before applying the analog supply ramps.

  • Hi Eugenio Mejia,

I shall follow that. Thank you very much
