ADS1255

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1255

Hello,

I am using ADS1255. A question regarding the power up sequence for the digital (3.3V) and analog power (5V), is there any sequence requirement for them? I didn't see anything regarding it in the datasheet. Is there any problem 5V come up earlier than 3.3V?

Thanks,

Alex

  • Hi Alex,

We're not aware of any particular sequencing issues with the ADS1255, although in general we find that on our del-sig converters, having the digital come up before the analog is usually best. This is because the digital circuitry often controls some of the operating conditions in the analog portion of the device, and powering analog first leaves some of the internal circuitry in an unknown state until both supplies have settled.

Once both analog and digital supplies are enabled, the device should work fine. However, it is a good practice to issue a RESET after power-up as a precaution, even though this is generally unnecessary.

As always, all other input signal should not exceed the absolute maximum ratings during power...meaning that all other signals should be held near 0V (or current limited) until after analog and digital supplies have come up.

    Best Regards,
    Chris
