Multi ADC10080 Sync

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC10080, LMK00804B, CDCLVC1104, LMK03318, LMK04100, LMK04816

We are designing a 4-channel ADC system with ADC10080, pls do not recommend any new parts for us, we just need to use this part for cost and power consumption considerations.

How to sync these 4 ADC10080? By driving these 4 ADCs with a clk distribution chip? Or just can't?

  • Hello,

The latency through the ADC10080 is fixed, so the data coming out of the 4 separate devices will be synchronized as long as the sampling clocks, distributed to each device, are phase aligned together. Yes, a simple well-matched fan-out buffer could do the trick but will have limited phase alignment accurancy. If you need better accuracy, you can look for distribution devices that have phase delay tuning in the output buffers so that you can calibrate the phase matching of the separate channel clocks.

Some fan-out and clock chips to consider:

    LMK00804B

    CDCLVC1104

    LMK03318

    LMK04100 family

    LMK04816, LK04906 (includes delay adjust)
