ADC14155LFEB/NOPB Maximum Input Power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC14155

Hi all:

I am using the ADC14155LFEB/NOPB in conjunction with the WAVEVSN BRD 5.1/NOPB interfacing card.  I want to do some RF testing with this set up, but I first need to know what the maximum input power of the ADC is.  Anybody have any experience/information on this?

Thanks,
Casey

  • Casey,

The input full scale voltage amplitude of the ADC14155 is 2Vpp. The full scale power input of the ADC depends on the termination in front of the ADC and the bandwidth depends on the whole analog signal path. on the ADC14155HFEB evaluation board, there is a 50 ohm differential termination (as indicated on the BOM) at R24/R25, therefore the full scale input power at DC is = 10*log10((2.0/2)^2/2*1000/50) = 10dBm. Realistically, there will also be 1-2dB loss through the input transformers. As you go higher in frequency, bandwidth roll-off will require a higher input power to push the ADC to full scale.

  • Hi Josh:

Thank you so much for your answer. Exactly what I was looking for.
