DAC161P997: How to test the DAC output

Part Number: DAC161P997

Hi,

I have the Current loop transmitter DAC161P997 and I am able to communicate with it, I send data over the single wire communications and I receive an ack of the data or in this case the current that I want to output. How do I now go about testing the circuit, with discrete components?

I have it set up as a self powered device on page 21 of the datasheet. If I put a resistor in series with the loop after the transistor portion, would I be able to detect the current being supplied? If this is the case then I am unable to get the output as I have a resistor in place and do not get the desired result.

System is being supplied from a 3V3 source, Re = 22Ohm as recommended and Rout (resistor I want to measure the current output over is 200Ohms).

Any assistance/advice welcome.
