TLV5535: change the phase of sampling clock dynamically

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: TLV5535
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCF5801A

Hello,

Can we use TLV5535 on the following condition?

1. Input sampling CLK is 30MHz and the sampling clock is generated by CDCF5801A.
2. Sampling 8 times
3. Change the phase of the sampling clock by 5 degrees by CDCF5801A phase aligner function
4. Sampling 8 times
5. Repeat 2~4

  • Ryuji,

Is the input data a tone or pulse? If so, at what frequency? It is hard to tell if this will work or not without this info. Any reason why you are looking to use such an old device (TLV5535)? There are many more options available at a much faster sampling rate that would possibly not require such an elaborated sampling scheme.

  • Jim,

Input data is pulse. The frequency is not fixed yet in the customer.
The customer actually needs several Gsps, but since the ADC for high speed sampling is expensive, trying to realize Gsps by pseudo by changing the sampling clock with inexpensive TLV 5535.

  • Ryuji,

If it is a repetitive pulse, and the pulse is synchronized with the sample clock, then I think they should be able to do this.
