DAC7564: the purpose/appication of LDAC pin

Part Number: DAC7564

Hi,

I would like to ask you following questions about "LDAC" of DAC7564.

Q1) the purpose

What is the purpose of this LDAC function and what application will use this function?

Q2) What is happened if LDAC pin is pulled up to "H" level, not "L" (GND) in case not using?

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Takumi,

    Thank you for your query.

The functionality of the LDAC can be found on page 31 of the datasheet; it's used to load data into the data register from the data buffer or in other words, make the output reflect the programmed data. It can be either done synchronously or synchronously, as mentioned there.

As per the datasheet, the LDAC pin should be tied to GND, if not used. However, as it is positive edge triggered, I don't think there should be a problem if you pull it HIGH. But this case is not tested. Hence, results cannot be guaranteed.

I am just curious to know why do you need to pull the LDAC high.

  • Uttam-san,

    Thank you for your answer!

    I understood.

This question was from my customer, in fact.

I will ask the customer to tie LDAC-pin to GND.
