ADS62P29: Jumps in the digitized data

Hello,

I asked this question in another post, but since that post started wit ha different topic it would be better to ask again in a separate post.

I sent a sampling clock in burst mode (100MHz, 400+ cycles) to the ADC when a differential sinusoidal signal was connected to one of the channels. I noticed that occasionally there would be jumps in the reconstructed wave, and this happened to the other channel, too. The jumps always occurred around the same time.  I was wondering if anyone has any idea why this happened. Thanks.

    Lingmei,

    If the sample clock is not coherent with respect to the analog input, this is to be expected. When you burst the sample clock, you are actually missing samples during the time the clock is not running. When the clock starts running again, depending on the phase of the input signal, you could see anywhere from no jumps to maximum jumps.

    Hi Jim,

    Thanks.  We have been using it this way for more than a year and this problem appeared just recently, we didn't have this problem before. Everything else is the same. Is there any chance that it is from the ADC chip? I am asking because we have spare ADC chip we can replace, do you recommend doing this?
