ADS131E04: Power-Up Timing

Hi Team,

I have a question about the ADS131E04. Could you help on this question?

Customer tested Power-up timing as follows.

  1. Power ON ---> Wait of 300ms ---> Ext Clock input ---> Wait of 100ms ---> Reset of 5us ---> Wait of 300ms ---> CONFIG : Succeeded
  2. Power ON ---> Wait of 300ms ---> Ext Clock input ---> Wait of 100ms ---> Reset of 5us ---> Wait of 1ms ---> CONFIG : Failed

 

Ext Clock=2MHz

 According to the Fig.65 and Table.22 in the d/s, tPOR needs Wait around 130ms(2^18 x 2MHz) between Ext CLK Input and Reset. Customer thought that both #1 and #2 would fail the CONFIG due to 100ms Wait time , but the #1 succeeded.

Could you tell me why the #1 succeeded the CONFIG?

    Hello Takashi-san,

    Thanks for your question,

    According to the datasheet, I would expect both timing sequences to fail. As you mentioned, tPOR is at least 2^18 / 2 MHz = 131ms.

    I would suggest to the customer to wait more than the required 131ms after applying the CLK. Then, after the /RESET pulse, I would expect the device to operate more reliably.
