DAC38RF84: What Interpolation factors can DAC38RF84 do?

Part Number: DAC38RF84
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38RF83

Based on the table on page 42 of the "DAC38RFxx" data sheet, it appears the DAC38RF84 cannot do interpolation of 6x, although in many other places, it is indicated that it is capable of 6x.

Here are the operating parameters I would be using:

Input data rate = 750 MHz

LMFSHd = 42111

Interpolation = 6

DAC Clock Rate = 4800 MHz (generated externally)

DUC /NCO1 being utilized with NCO1 = 1200 MHz.

Can the DAC38RF84 operate under these conditions? If not, Can the DAC38RF83 operate under these conditions?

  • Dale,

    You can do this with the DAC38RF83 but not the DAC38RF84. The settings are shown below from the DAC38RFxx EVM GUI. You will be running with a single DAC and the serdes rate will be 8000MHz.

    Regards,

    Jim
