ADS1000: ADS1000 Conversion timing

Part Number: ADS1000

Hi,

I need the conversion timing for the ADS1000. When I send a Single Conversion request with Gain = x1 at what time will the sample be aquired, how long is the sample period & when is the result ready?

Best Regards,

Paul

  • Paul,

The ADS1000 is based on a delta-sigma type converter. It samples the input repeatedly (at a 275kHz rate) and combines all the samples during the full data period to output a single data every 7.8ms. Note that there is no sample-and-hold type circuit. The output data should reflect a basic average of the input during the entire data period.

If you are taking a single conversion, it takes about 20us to start up the device, then approximately 7.8ms to sample the data. At the end of the data period, the conversion will be available. Note that there is a large variance in the data period. Min and max in the datasheet shows that the period is between 5.4 ms and 9.6 ms.

  • Hi Joseph,

thanks for the info so promptly.

We will wait 10ms before attempting a read of the data.

    Best Regards,
