AMC7832: IOVDD

Part Number: AMC7832

Hi,

When my customer use AMC7832, IOVDD should be connected to 3.3V. But they notice that, even IOVDD is NC, AMC7832 could work well in room temperature. And when IOVDD is NC, IOVDD voltage is 3.3V.

I verify this in EVM. When IOVDD is NC, IOVDD voltage is 2.2V. Why does IOVDD has voltage when not connected? Thanks!

Regards

David

  • Hi David,

The IOVDD supply of the AMC7832 is a low power digital supply requiring only about ~15uA of current. It is possible that when the IOVDD is NC the device is being back powered from an ESD cell on one of the digital inputs, such as CS or RESET. Please note though, that while the device may seem to function without a dedicated IOVDD source, performance and functionality is not guaranteed. I would advise that they use a correct IOVDD supply.

    Thanks!
    Paul
