ADS7800: Is the internal Voltage reference used to determine the Digital output value for this ADC.

Part Number: ADS7800

This part says that there is an internal Voltage Reference with 5% tolerance (1.9V to 2.1V). Is this voltage reference used internally to determine the Digital output value or is it merely for external use at the users discretion.

The main question is how does the part maintain +/- 1LSB of Linearity Error if the Reference isn't that good?

Hello Michael,

Yes, this is the reference the part uses when converting the input voltage. Because it can vary from part to part, you will need to do a calibration to get the best performance from the part. The calibration procedure is described on page 8 of the datasheet.
