DAC5682Z: Frequency relation for modes of operation

Part Number: DAC5682Z

Hi all,

I have a basic theoretical question to understand the working of DAC5682z.

In Table 8 from page 39 of the datasheet, For mode 2x1-

Max CLKIN = 500MHz, Max DCLK = 500MHz, Max Total Input Bus Rate = 1000MSPS.

Why is the CLKIN not 1000MHz? How are these frequency relation calculated? Could you please point me to any document to understand these relations?

Thanks and Regards,

Abhijith C D

  • Hi Abhijith,

The mode 2x1 as mentioned in the table allow 2 DACs running in 1x interpolation mode( no interpolation). The Max total input bus rate for the DAC is 1000MSPS. which means the maximum rate at which data sent to the DAC is 1000MSPS and since two DAC are allowed so data rate for each DAC is 500MSPS and as mentioned before 1x interpolation. CLK RATE = interpolation X datarate so 500MHz = 1X 500MSPS.
