ADC161S626EVM: Cannot find MSP430-USB Example to update USB driver in Device Manager in Windows 10

Part Number: ADC161S626EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529, ADC161S626

I am using the ADC161S626EVM together with the MSP-EXP430F5529LP. When i try to install the driver for the ADC161S626EVM (as described in the users guide) I cannot find MSP430-USB Example in Device Manager to update the driver.

I have found the .inf file that I will need to update and have looked at this E2E post that points out needing to boot up and allow unsigned windows drivers since I am using windows 10.

I was able to succesfully update the MSP430F5529 Firmware as mentioned in the users guide.

I am attaching image of device manager showing that the "other devices" category does not show up with the MSP430-USB example needing to update the driver.

  • Dakotah,
I will check and come back to you on this.
    Thanks,
    Vishy
  • Dakotah,

I just tested this on Windows 10.

    1) Download and install the ADC161S626 EVM GUI software (most probably you did this already) from link below
    www.ti.com/.../adc161s626evm

    2) Do "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" as described in the post you referred

    3) In "Device Manager" right click on "USB Serial Device (COM11)" and select "Update driver software:. Choose
"Browse my computer for driver software" and then choose
"Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

Select "Have Disk..." and browse to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADC1x1S62x\Driver" and click OK.

This should install the driver and you should be able to see "TI_ADC_DAC_EVMs (COM11)" under Ports.

    4) Run the ADC1x1S62x GUI Software and Select Device "ADC161S626". It should say connected now.

    Thanks,
    Vishy

  • Vishy,

I can confirm that the device shows up properly on a windows 7 machine after updating the firmware.

The "USB Serial Device (COM11)" was showing up on my windows 10 machine and I was able to apply the drivers and get the EVM running.

    Thanks for your help!
