ADS1298RECGFE-PDK: How to read all register data with continuous mode?

Part Number: ADS1298RECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298,

hello,
I em trying to modify LV drivers for ADS1298 to make them "stitch" results of continous data acqusition back to back. The idea is to see almost live signal as it is being recorded.
However, with high datarates (f/64 or f/128) the data loses conitnuity (which has been pointed out in user guide).
Is there a way to eliminate this data loss at those frequencies?
Or is there a known ceiling for continous data acquisition?

thanks a lot for your help, I'll gladly provide more information if you need it.

  • Hi Lukas!

Welcome to our e2e forum! The limitations on getting continuous data from the ADS1298RECGFE-PDK are not an issues with LV, it is a limitation of the memory on the controller board and the USB transfer. Unfortunately, with the existing hardware, I do not know of a way to avoid the discontinuity.
  • thank you for your answer,
could you please recommend something to replace MMB0
(it is my understanding, that this is the bottleneck you are reffering to)

  • Hi Lukas,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Off the top of my head, I don't have any specific recommendation for an alternate controller. The only thing you need to consider really is the number of channels you are using and the data rate of the ADS1298. Setting up a ping-pong buffer that allowed you to continue capturing data while transferring data to the PC would give you what you are looking for. The MMB0 just isn't set up that way unfortunately.
