ADC124S101: performance degrade at Ta > 85C but Tj < 150C

Part Number: ADC124S101

Hi,

In the datasheet it is stated that: “Some performance characteristics may degrade when the device is not operated under the listed test conditions.”
What will happen if the operating ambient temperature will increase above TA = 85deg.C, but TJ still will be much lower than 150deg.C? Especially with regards to accuracy and MTBF.

Thanks and best regards,
KF

  • Hi KF,

The performance specifications given in the Electrical Characteristics Table starting on page 4 of the ADC124S101 datasheet are derived from characterization data under the conditions listed in the table. It's not general practice to try and characterize performance outside the bounds of the recommended operating conditions, so exactly which performance spec might degrade is dependent on a great many factors. In some situations AC performance might be impacted, while in others it might be DC performance - in general, you can see additional offset /gain errors, SNR/THD degradation, etc. MTBF should be based on junction temperature, so there should not be an impact there.
