ADC12J4000EVM: Compatibility with Xilinx ZCU102 Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC

Part Number: ADC12J4000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC12DJ3200, ADC12J4000, ADC12DJ3200EVM

Hi,

My customer has the question below:

We are working with the TI ADC12J4000EVM. We want to plug the FMC board into Xilinx ZCU102 Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC. We have compared the pinouts of the boards and other than the FMC_DEVCLK and FMC_SYSREF differential pins, they look compatible. From the ADC12J4000EVM schematic and ZCU102 datasheet, if we were to use Xilinx JESD IP to interface to the ADC, all the needed IO pins are accounted for. From our analysis, it looks like all the needed connections are available but have been informed from different sources (Xilinx/forums) that these parts are not compatible. Are there are any particular reasons for this?

Thanks,

Chuchen

  • Hi Chuchen

The ADC12J4000 device has a very similar output data format to that of the ADC12DJ3200 when both devices are operated in the single input, 12 bit output mode.

There is an example firmware for the ADC12DJ3200EVM 12 bit 8 lane modes and the KCU105 available in the Tools and Software section of the ADC12DJ3200 product folder:

    http://www.ti.com/product/ADC12DJ3200/toolssoftware

Here is the direct link to the firmware example: http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc698

I believe the ZCU102 FMC connector pin out will be similar enough to the KCU105 that the boards should be compatible, but we do not have example firmware that directly supports that board with the ADC12DJ3200EVM.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best regards,
