ADS54J54: Total Latency

Part Number: ADS54J54

Hello,

My customer has a question about ADS54J54 Total Latency.

[Q]

Please tell me the total latency of ADS54J54.

Is my understanding correct ?

<My understanding>

The total latency is ADC core latency and Link latency. (I referred to Ken Chan's Blog : JESD204B: How to calculate your deterministic latency)

The ADC core latency for ADS54J54 is aperture delay.

The aperture delay is typical value and the variation is described in the D/S as aperture jitter.

The calculation method of the Link latency is described in Ken Chan's Blog.

The link latency is deterministic.

  • Hi Hiroshi,

    Yes, you are correct.

The datasheet for the ADS54J54 also shows some timing diagrams that may further assist (figure 2 and figure 3).

For example, the approximate total ADC Core Latency would be the data latency (38 clock cycles) + the aperture delay (tpd, propagation delay from sample clock input edge to serial data output transition).

    Hope that helps.

    Best Regards,

    Dan

  • Hi Dan,

Thank you for your fast response.
    OK, I understood it.

    Thank you for your cooperation.
