TSW16DX370EVM: Labview errors when opening configuration gui

Part Number: TSW16DX370EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5263EVM, TSW1400EVM, ADS5263, TEST, TSW14J56EVM, CYPRESS

When I open the TSW16DX370EVM configuration gui, I receive a number of pop-up errors:

LabVIEW: Resource not found.

An error occurred loading VI 'NI_Gmath.lvlib:Sine Integral.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel.

LabVIEW: Resource not found.

An error occurred loading VI 'NI_Gmath.lvlib:Cosine Integral.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel.

LabVIEW: Resource not found.

An error occurred loading VI 'NI_Gmath.lvlib:Gamma Function.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel.

LabVIEW: Resource not found.

An error occurred loading VI 'NI_Gmath.lvlib:Incomplete Gamma Function.vi'. LabVIEW load error code 3: Could not load front panel.

Missing subVI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Incomplete Gamma Function.vi in VI NI_Gmath.lvlib:(Incomplete) Gamma Function (obs).vi.

Missing subVI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Gamma Function.vi in VI NI_Gmath.lvlib:(Incomplete) Gamma Function (obs).vi.

Missing subVI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Cosine Integral.vi in VI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Three Register Calculation.VI.

Missing subVI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Sine Integral.vi in VI NI_Gmath.lvlib:Three Register Calculation.VI.

The gui opens, but in simulation mode only, and "Reconnect FTDI" has no effect.  I suspect that there is a Labview requirement I am not meeting, but am not sure which one.  Could you please clarify the Labview requirements to run this GUI?  Or, of course any other suggestions are appreciated too :)

  • Hi,
Have you installed HSDC Pro GUI, which can downloaded from our website (www.ti.com/.../dataconverterpro-sw If not, please uninstall the TSW16DX370EVM GUI, install the HSDC pro and then re-install the TSW16DX370EVM GUI?
    Regards,
    satish.
  • Hi Satish,

Thanks for your message.  Yes, I have already installed HSDC Pro GUI, and it is the most recent version.  In the past I have successfully used the ADS5263EVM with the TSW1400EVM (using the ADS5263 gui and HSDC Pro gui) on the same machine.  I should perhaps note that when I open HSDC Pro and select device "TSW16DX370EVM", the user guide says "selecting the ‘TSW16DX370EVM’ in the ADC select drop-down menu made an additional ‘TSW16DX370EVM’ tab appear in HSDC Pro", but I do not see this.

    Thanks,

    Clayton

  • Hi Clayton,
The primary problem here seems to be the TSW16DX370EVM GUI not connecting to the TSW16DX370EVM. Correct? Just wanted to clarify as you also pointed something about HSDC Pro GUI. My recommendation to check HSDC Pro GUI was based on the fact that installing that GUI will be enough to meet the LV requirements.
I'm assuming that the TSW EVM is connected to the supply. Have you tried another PC? What is the OS?
    Regards,
    satish.
  • Hi Satish,

Sorry for the delayed response here.

I located another PC (both running Windows 7). The new PC already had HSDC v4.20 installed, so I installed the TSW16DX370EVM GUI there. That test worked. I confirmed that the first PC, with HSDC v4.80, still does not work in the same was as documented before.

    So, to summarize:
Machine #1: Windows 7, HSDC v4.80, TSW16DX370EVM GUI fails to load VI components and does not connect to EVM.
Machine #2: Windows 7, HSDC v4.20, TSW16DX370EVM GUI works fine.

    Thanks,
    Clayton
  • Hi Clayton,
Thanks for checking another PC and your feedback.
Can you open the device manager in machine #1 and see if the USB controller refreshes when the TSW16DX370EVM is connected. Just to check if the PC recognizes it?
I came across a similar issue (e2e.ti.com/.../2508759 where the fix was to re-install FTDI drivers. Can you give that a try?
    Regards,
    satish.
  • Hi Satish,

Yes, the device manager refreshes.  Specifically, when I plug in the TSW16DX370EVM, I see two "USB Controllers" named "USB Serial Converter A" and "USB Serial Converter B".  Both are using FTDI driver version 2.12.28.0, which is the most recent.  When I plug in the TSW14J56EVM, I see a new "USB Controller" named "Cypress FX3 USB StreamerExample Device", using Cypress driver 1.2.3.10.

I tried updating the FTDI drivers, and it said they were already the most recent.  I then uninstalled the existing FTDI drivers; the computer fell back to an old version of the FTDI drivers for those devices.  Then I re-installed the newest FTDI drivers.  No change.

I also tried uninstalling all of the TI eval programs I had on the machine, and reinstalling first HSDC Pro, then TSW16DX370EVM GUI.  No change.

    Thanks,

    Clayton

  • Hi Clayton,

Does "I also tried uninstalling all of the TI eval programs" also include re-installation of HSDC Pro GUI? If not, can you give that a try?

    Regards,

    satish.

  • Hi Clayton,
We can't think of anything else to debug this issue. That its not a EVM issue is clear from the fact that it runs fine on machine #2.
    Regards,
    satish.
  • That is fair; thanks for your time!
