ADS112C04EVM: Delta-Sigma ADC Evaluation Software Won't load scripts

Part Number: ADS112C04EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS112C04, ADS122C04,

While using the Evaluation Software, I cant load a script and the predefined scripts button is greyed out. I can manually navigate to the script file and try to load it, but then the entire program crashes. In order to run scripts I have to create a new script and type in the commands every time.

  • Hi Aaron,

Welcome to the E2E forum! It seems to me that either the GUI or the device package did not install correctly. The device package needs to be installed without the main GUI running. So first I would try reinstalling the GUI and the ADS112C04 device package and make sure this is done with administrator privileges and use the default install locations.

If 'Predefined' is greyed out, then the scripts cannot be found by the GUI software. When the device package installs correctly, it should reside in your 'users' folder as 'Documents\DSEvalSW\Devices\ADS112C04'. The scripts should reside in the 'scripts' folder inside of the ADS112C04 folder. Also, when you see the 'Available Scripts' buttons greyed out, you can try clicking on the 'Rescan' button to reload the script info.

When you say you manually navigate to the script file and try to load it, just how are you attempting to do so? Are you using the 'Import' button? You should not see anything crash by using the 'Import' button.

    Best regards,
    Bob B
  • Yes when I try manually navigating to the script file I click the "import" button and go to the script file in my devices folder. Mine is located at "C:\Users\aaron.mcneil.EAGLE\Documents\DSEvalSW\Devices\ADS122C04\scripts" When I select a script the GUI crashes and closes everything.

Another issue, when I click the Refresh/Sync button in the device tab, nothing happens. Therefore I cant see my devices register map.
  • Hi Aaron,

One other thing I should have mentioned and that is with respect to Windows 10.  If you are using Win10, the drivers may have not installed properly.  Make sure that when you connect the EVM that the GUI recognizes the EVM and loads the register information from the startup screen.  If you see this screen then the GUI cannot find the EVM.

If the board is found you should see something like shown below:

Note the lower left icon indicating 'Hardware Connected' as opposed to 'Hardware Not Connected'.

If you do have a connection issue, try plugging in the EVM first and then start the GUI.

    Best regards,

    Bob B

  • Hi Aaron,

Can you post a screen shot of what you see when you first start the GUI?

    Thanks,
    Bob B
  • I think I found the problem. My device package I installed is ADS122C04 but I need the ADS112C04. Do you have a link to the device package installer for the ADS112C04? I cant seem to find it.
  • Hi Aaron,

Yes, that would be a problem.  The device package Download button can be found on the ADS112C04EVM tools page:

  • That solved it. Duh.

    Thank you.
