TPL0501-100: Definition of Resistance Tolerance

Part Number: TPL0501-100

Hi,

We're not sure about the definition of 20% Resistance Tolerance mentioned in the datasheet.

As I know, this chip offer end-to-end resistance as 100 kΩ with 256 steps.--> The step size is 100kΩ/256.

Considered the case of the 128th step, the value should be 50kΩ.  Which description as below is correct about the 20% Resistance Tolerance?

  1. The resistance value could be in the range from 50kΩ x 80%  to  50kΩ x 120%
  2. The resistance value could be in the range from 50kΩ-100kΩ/256 x 20%  to  50kΩ+100kΩ/256 x 20%

Thanks!

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

Thank you for your query. The tolerance is specified on the end-to-end resistance as mentioned in section 6.4 of the datasheet. So, your statement (1) is right.

The accuracies with each code step is specified as INL, DNL, offset and gain.

    Hope that answers your question.
