MSC1210Y5: Brownout reset on MSC1210

Part Number: MSC1210Y5
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSC1210

I am using the Brown out reset feature on MSC1210. I understand that there are 4 voltage levels that could be used as a BOR threshold levels (2.5,2.7,4.2,4.7V)

On page 27, in the BOR section, there is a statement that states " The BOR voltage is not calibrated until the end of reset cycle"

I would like to understand more about the statement that's mentioned there. any information would be helpful/appreciated

  • Hi Sakthivel,

Welcome to the E2E forum! The brownout detect circuit has some default configurations for the various settings that can actually be 25% higher than the values selected. For example the 4.2V selection may not release until 5.25V is applied. This means that on power up, the device may be held in a reset state when the nominal supply voltage is 5V. It is not until the device is fully released from the initial reset state that the MSC1210 calibrates the brownout detection circuit to more closely follow the desired or selected voltages.

So it is advised not to use the higher voltage settings for brownout detection which can hold the device in a reset condition.

    Best regards,
