DAC38RF87: Operating Parameters of this and the other DACs in DAC38RFxx family

Part Number: DAC38RF87

All,

There is a little confusion in the datasheets of this particular family of DACs, so I have several technical questions in relation to really all of them:

  • Are the DACs able to run at the specified max. GSPS (6.2 in the case of the -87) at 14 bits of resolution? Or are those the maximum for each parameter and you can only achieve one or the other? The documentation makes it a little unclear especially when the multimodes are mentioned in the -82 and -89 boards documentation.
  • For the interpolation factors specified in each board, are those how the max GSPS is achieved or is that in addition to the max GSPS? For instance, for the -87 DAC, can I choose an interpolation factor of x8 and still sample at 6.2 GSPS? Or is the 6.2 GSPS artificially achieved through the highest interpolation level (in this case x24)?
  • How is the interpolation factor adjusted on the boards?
  • Lastly for the EVMs, how are the chips attached/detached? I would imagine they aren't soldered on, but it's difficult to tell where they are via the pictures of the EVMs and how easily they can be swapped out.

My apologies in advance if these questions are slightly unclear. I'd be happy to try to reword or better articulate them if needed.

Thanks!
