ADS42JB49EVM: programming the ADS42JB49EVM evaluation module

Part Number: ADS42JB49EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04828, , ADS42JB49, TSW14J50EVM

Hello,

I need to use your dual ADC 14 bits (ADS42JB49 ) with your ADS42JB49EVM evaluation module with my own FPGA carrier through the FMC connector . So, I need to program by SPI the LMK04828 clock conditioner to configure special device clocks and the DAC but I don't see the SPI bus connected to FMC connector.  The FMC see 6 signals "SPI_D1 to 6" connected to the CPLD on the schematic of the module. So, few questions to you:

1°) Does it mean the LMK + ADC is only programmable from the GUI software ?

2°) does this software work without the legacy TSW14J50EVM FPGA carrier (TI) and with my transparent FPGA board ?

3°) is there a protocol to use the CPLD as switch and program the SPI with my FPGA carrier board ?

Any documentation on this CPLD would be welcome, please.

Best regards.

  • Hello
We have received your question, but most of our product experts are away for the US Thanksgiving holiday. Someone will respond in more detail on Monday.

  • David,

The LMK and ADC are only programmed by the ADC42JBxxEVM GUI. You can program the ADC EVM directly with this GUI. The TSW14J50EVM is not required.

The purpose of the CPLD was to allow for three options to program the ADC and LMK. The default is through the USB connection on the ADC EVM. Option 2 was through the FMC connector and option 3 is using the on board serial EEPROM. The firmware for this device is attached.

    Regards,

    Jim
