AMC1210MB-EVM: data aquisition won't work

Part Number: AMC1210MB-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1203, AMC1203EVM,

I try to evaluate ADS1203 ADC in combination with an AMC1210MB-EVM i bought recently. I have built a custom EVM with similar wiring and pinnning as AMC1203-EVM. I have chosen Mode 0, so internal clock and synchronous data output with Pins M1 and M0 connected to GND.I have observed on scope correct 5V Bitstream on Pin9/8 (jumpersetting)  and 10MHz clock signal on Pin 7/6 of the DSUB9. I use the 5V supply from the AMC1210MB-EVM, as the ADS1203 needs 5V and not 3.3V as the.AMC1203EVM.

I have installed the software on an old WinXP-System and it seems to be able to connect with the EVM. Unfortunately it responds "Firmware encountered an unexpected failure, please try again" whenever i try to aquire data. Variation of settings would not help so far.

I hope, you can provide a hint , what is going wrong.

best regards, Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

Can you check your Filter Module settings in the GUI? I've seen this sort of issue before with the AMC1210MB-EVM when the SOSR setting on the Current Shunt Settings tab was set to '256'. The software does not know how to handle that, it expects the same format as what is listed in the datasheet for the Sinc Filter Parameter Register (page 30) where the desired value is 'SOSR+1'. So, you would need to put '255' in the GUI if your want SOSR of 256. The same is true for the IOSR windows in the GUI.
