DAC38RF93: The NCO reset with sysref signal

Part Number: DAC38RF93
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38J84

When I use the DAC38RF93, I set the register with the NCO reset using sysref signal. but the sysref signal is a periodic signal, and the DAC output is continuous . So,I want to known the real

relationship between the NCO reset and sysref signal. Is the NCO  reset just response with a couple of  sysref signal generated before?

  • Hello,
The DAC38RF93 should have similar NCO SYSREF reset mechanism as the DAC38j84 family. You may take a look at the following app note:
    www.ti.com/.../slaa696.pdf

section 5.1 highlights the requirement for SYSREF if SYSREF is periodic, then only the least common multiple of the NCO is allowed for SYSREF synchronization. For other NCO frequencies, it is best to use one time pulse to initialize the phase/frequency of the NCO.
