ADS1281: Wake up flag

Part Number: ADS1281

we are experiencing a problem during our start up process.

We are unsure whether this comes from the ADS1281 wakeup sequence or the CPU startup sequence.

Does the device have a "ready" flag to indicate it has completed startup and is ready to begin communication?

  • Hi Avi,

Welcome to the E2E forum! It would be helpful to see your schematic and how you have your ADS1281 configured. It is not clear what issue you are experiencing. All supplies must be nominal and the RESET and PDWN pins held high. You must have a running clock at the CLK pin. Note the Power-On Sequence on page 22 of the datasheet. SYNC should also be high for continuous conversions.

If the ADS1281 operational and converting, you should see the DRDY pin toggling. If you do not, check that the supplies are available at the device pins, the RESET and PDWN pins are high, and the clock is running. Also check that the SYNC pin is high.

If the ADS1281 appears operational, but you still cannot communicate to the device, note the Configuration Guide information on page 36 of the datasheet and in particular item 1 regarding any glitch on SCLK that may require the communication to reset.

    Best regards,
    Bob B
