ADS7054: No EVM or software for ADS7054?

Hi,

my customer would like to evaluate ADS7054. We have ADS7044EVM-PDK, ADS7057EVM-PDK.

Which one should I apply for them to evaluate?

I've applied ADS7044EVM-PDK already, is Simple Capture Card inside?

And is it okay for me to unsolder ADS7044 and solder ADS7054 to make it EVM for ADS7054?

Can I use ADS7044EVM GUI?

    Hello,

    To evaluate the ADS7054, please use the ADS7057EVM-PDK, this board was developed to support both ADS7057 and ADS7054; the software will also support both devices. 

    The ADS7057EVM-PDK user guide demonstrates how to evaluate the ADS7054 on this board, specifically on page 18,  where it explains the sampling limitation of the ADS7054 compared to ADS7057. It is alright to remove the ADS7057 on the EVM board and carefully solder a ADS7054 in its place. 

    The biggest issue with using the ADS7044EVM-PDK is that this supports a 12 bit device, while the ADS7054 is a 14 bit device. You might be able to achieve communication using the ADS7054 on this board, but the performance will be limited due to the resolution difference. The software will simply not take into consideration the last two LSBs of the device. All the needed boards will be included.

    why ADS7044EVM-PDK has FPGA? What's FPGA for? Is it for some calculation like FFT?

    Both EVMs have communication cards; although these communications cards are different they both have an FPGA on them.
    The FPGA does not do any calculations, that is done in the GUI software; the FPGAs communicate with the ADC EVM and provides large amount of data to the computer for the GUI to make calculations.
