ADS4128: Looking for a 10MHz very low harmonic sine source to check AFE +ADC performance

I have an application with an ADS4128 driven by an AFE using THS4541 and THS4509 op amps.

I want to be able to reproduce the setup used in figure 8 of the ADS4128 datasheet to check the performance of the AFE + ADC.

To do so, I need a very pure sine wave generator. Do you have an eval board or a schematic for building such source?

    These plots were made using high end signal generators. TI does sell two boards that can generate a 10MHz tone (TSW2110EVM) and a 70MHz tone (TSW2170EVM) but the performance will be lower. These cost $149 each.



  • Hi Victor, there is actually quite a lot that goes into generating those ADC data sheet SFDR plots - the single sources alone are never good enough HD wise so, at minimum, you need 

    1. Low phase noise synthesizer (several out there, Gigatronics 6080A is common)

    2. A really good tuneable or fixed bandpass filter to cut off the source HD. Fixed ones are normally allen avionics or TTE. Some folks use the real expensive K&L tuneable bandpass like this one. They are on eBay sometimes and look like this - still real expensive. 

    3. Normally you do a coherent sample record so you don't have to do windowing - this is all in a char or ATE environment
