ADS54J20EVM: Reading registers using ads54jxx gui

Part Number: ADS54J20EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS54J20, ADS54J40

Hi All,

I got an ADS54J20EVM board and I'm trying to read its configuration registers using ADS54Jxx GUI low-level view. As a start, I'm trying to read the LMK4828 ID registers (0x3-0x6, 0xC, 0xE) but only get zeros.

Using a scope I verified that SPI CLK and SDO signals are alive (measured on R69/R70). I also noticed that the GUI board selection pull-down menu only offers ADS54J40 and ADS54J20.

Any ideas what am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

Jacky

  • Hey Jacky,

  • Jacky,

By default, the LMK powers up in a 3-wire SPI mode but the GUI requires this to be 4-wire mode. To place the LMK into this mode, load one of the LMK default files such as "LMK_Config_Onboard_491p52_MSPS.cfg". You should be able to read back the LMK registers after this.

I am not sure what you are asking about in your second question. If you follow the users guide, you would first load the LMK device with one of the LMK configuration files, press the board reset switch, then load one of the ADC configuration files. Since you are using the ADS54J20EVM, you would select a file that starts with "ADS54J20_". There currently are 11 of these to chose from.

    Jim
