ADS7841-Q1: BUSY pin function

Part Number: ADS7841-Q1

Hi,

Can you explain more about the BUSY pin function of ADS7841-Q1? And how to utilize this signal?

Is it a must-have for SPI communication? As the MCU only support 4-wire SPI interface and there's no additional pin for BUSY signal, can I just leave this pin float?

Many thanks.

BR,

Brian Zhao

  • Hello

The busy signal is an output of the device that notifies the user when a conversion is on-going, once the conversion is done, the busy signal is no longer active.
The BUSY does not need to be monitored to achieve correct SPI communication or conversion results. It can be accomplished without the BUSY. You may leave it floating.
The BUSY is benefitial to monitor as a way to know if the device is active, working properly and converting when expected.

    Hope this helps
