DDC112: DVDD and AVDD Power Supply

Part Number: DDC112
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DDC114,

Hi all,

I'm designing a board with the DCC112 chip. I've seen that the chip offers separate supply pins for analog and digital power. In the datasheet,
it says that AVDD = DVDD = 5V. My question is, does anybody have any experience in supplying only 3.3V to the digital supply of the chip (to spare the use of a voltage translator)?

I noticed that the DDC114 allows for different voltage values and was, therefore, wondering if this would be at all possible for the DDC112.

Best regards
Christof

  • Hi Christof,
    How are you?
I will forward your voltage questions on DDC112 (vs. DDC114)
    to our system engineer.
They will reply to you soon.

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Chen
  • Hi Christof,

Looking at the DDC112 DS (page 3) supply requirements looks like there is not much margin around the 5V. Talking to the designer, he thinks that probably at the time (long ago) they didn't include level shifters between the digital and the analog circuits, so, lowering DVDD may eventually stop working. It may go below 4.75V but certainly not down to 3V. I do not know of anyone using the part below specs. Sorry...

Also you are correct that DDC114 supports 3V (DS pg 4).

    Best regards,
    Eduardo
