ADS8331: Inquiries about how to use

Hi Team,

Currently, my customer is reviewing and evaluating TI's AD converter, ADS8331, and they are asking questions about how to use in the following cases.

Please support the following questions from customer.

Q1: If we(customer) want to read AD values of multi-channel (4ch) ports in Auto Trigger mode, what value should we set CFR to?

(The channel select mode is AutoChannelSelect.)

 

Q2: As a method to get the above conversion result,

We(customer) understand that it is possible to judge which channel's AD value by sending 0xD000 on the SPI when the EOC

pin becomes active and then checking the TAG bit.

Is this our recognition correct?

    Hi Someno-san,

    Auto channel mode and TAG bit enabled is part of the default configuration register setting for the ADS8331 (please see Table 5, page 31), so technically you don't have to write anything to the CFR. To verify channel results, yes - you can use the TAG bits as a channel ID mask (see section 9.5.4.1).
