ADS1282-SP: Power Consumption

Part Number: ADS1282-SP

Hello team,

my customer is running the device in high resolution mode with 5V on AVdd and 3.3V DVdd and has the following questions.

1) What is the absolute max power dissipation the part can handle?   The spec shows power dissipation in various modes and after 50krad exposure but what is the max dissipation the part can handle?

2) Is the AVdd current draw related AVdd?   i.e. The max current listed is 11mA but is that at 5V  or 3.3V?  And is it more or less at higher voltages?

 Thanks!

Errol

  • Errol,

The first question is a little strange.  The device dissipates power from operation.   The max power is listed in the datasheet.

It is not a matter of handling more power, but how much power is required for operation.   If I am misunderstanding the question, please help clarify.

The only concern would be to insure that the heat is dissipated though some means.  With such a low power device, this should not be a concern and should dissipate heat easily through the board.

For question 2.  AVDD to AVSS is specified to be 5V  AVDD +2.5v, with AVSS at -2.5v.  This is listed in the header of the electrical characteristics tables.

5V is the max recommended operating range for AVDD to AVSS.
