ADS7043: ADC power consuming and device damage.

Part Number: ADS7043

Hi,

I am using the 12 bit ADC ADS7043 IC, in that I am measuring the current AVDD+DVDD but its taking around more than 10mA current.

Input supply voltage is 1.8V(AVDD & DVDD).

Input AINP=0.3V

Input AINM=0.9V

SCLK=1MHz

SDO trace capacitance is 5pF.

What is the cause of issue for damaging the chip.

This chip has low power device?

then what is current I_AVDD? , I_DVDD?

  • Hello,

    I am not too sure if I understand correctly.

    The device at the power supplies together, is pulling in 10mA, when the device is running at SCLK 1MHz.

    That is high and can damage the device.  Below is an excerpt from the datasheet, showing that the max expected I_AVDD is 260uA.

    Is there anything else on the power line? would you share your schematic to review?

    Regards

    Cynthia
