ADS8331: Analog input BW

Part Number: ADS8331

Hi Team,

I would like to know about ADS8331 specification.

How do I understand Analog input BW (MHz)?

Does it mean that the flat band falls by 3dB.

I understand that the band is extended when the input goes low.

I am a little confused.

Best Regards,

Kenji

  • Hi Kenji,

Yes, this is the -3dB bandwidth for the input to the device.  This bandwidth is a result of the RC filter formed by the input sampling capacitor and the switch on resistance, plus additional parasitic impedance due to the ESD diode and package.  When the signal passes through the multiplexor, there is additional path resistance, which further reduces the input bandwidth.

If this is a new design, you may want to consider the ADS8167 device; 16b, 500ksps with 8 channel multiplexor and internal reference.

    Regards,
    Keith N.
