ADS1299EEGFE-PDK: Noise in analysis graph of ADS1299

Part Number: ADS1299EEGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Provide case details or comments

Hello Forum ,
I recently purchased ADS1299 Eval Kit... I am facing the following problems .......
1> The Y axis scale is confusing .. pic attached... How to convert this scale to digital scale which shows the actual ADC values.
2> Is it possible to directly attach EEG electrodes to the input of the ADS1299 ? When I try to do this I only see lot of noise... I am using a battery source to power the Eval Kit and also my laptop is working on battery.
3> How to switch on and off the 50Hz notch filter of the Eval Board .... I suppose the there is some kind of filtration algorithm running ...
4> How to change the sampling rate to 400samples/channel /sec ...
5> Can you please send me a video or set of images to show how the EEG signal is actually seen on the Eval Board... This way I am able to actually compare to my output

  • Hi Amol,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum!

    1. Check the BIOFAQ post in my signature, there's a FAQ that addresses this.

    2. Yes, but this EVM is not intended for direct connection to a patient, it is intended to demonstrate the functionality of the device. See the BIOFAQ extra documentation post for the improving common-mode rejection app note using RLD. (This is called BIAS for the ADS1299)

    3. Take a look at section 9.3.2.1.1 of the datasheet and you will see that the notches occur at the output datarate and multiple thereof.

    4. You can change the Samples/CH at the top of the GUI, and the output datarate can be changed on the ADC Registers tab.

    5. EEG signal waveforms vary based on electrode location, I recommend searching the internet for examples.
