AMC1210MB-EVM: problems with AMC1210EVM software

Part Number: AMC1210MB-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1210,

Hello Support Community,

I have to do some measurements with the AMC1303 delta-sigma-modulator together with the AMC1210 digital filter.

I have already checked the modulator for itself. I get the bitstream out of it, that I expected, so it works properly.

The problem is, that I cannot display any data on the GUI (from the AMC1210 EVM software).

In the picture below, you can see the adjustments I have made.

When I click on Acquire in the Current Shunt Data Tab, it says "Firmware encountered an unexpected failure, please try again"

I don't know what I have done wrong. Does anybody have an idea what mistake I have made?

I really appreciate your help !

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

This typically happens when the software is installed incorrectly, power isn't applied to the board, or the operating system is not compliant.

Things like installing with administrator rights, plugging the board in before finishing the install, and not using Windows XP can cause issues.

Can you see the device enumerating in device manager?

If you are using XP, oftentimes, the best solution is to fully un-install everything and re-install.

    From the user's guide:

    3. Software

The program for evaluating the AMC1210MB-EVM is the AMC1210EVM software. This program uses the NI-VISA™ client to communicate with the hardware through a USB port. The program currently runs only on PCs with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. Windows Vista and Windows 7 are not supported.

If you do not have access to a Windows XP machine and do not have the time to get around the operating system, using a C2k with a SDFM and a newer GUI may be a viable route.

  • Hi Paul,

Along with the comments from Alex, the AMC1303 would be operating in Mode 0, not Mode 1.
